Legislative framework and criminal operational aspect of combatingnew forms of community violence

AB  - The paper presents the legislative framework and the criminalistics-operational aspect of the fight against new forms of violence in Serbia. It is primarily about domestic violence, then peer violence and violence at sports events. The social response to the challenges, risks and threats posed by new forms of violence in the community first included normative-legal activity. The legal frame-work for the fight against new forms of violence in the community included the adoption of special laws and bylaws, which were pointed out in the paper. On that basis, the criminalistics-operational response  of  the  police  and  law  enforcement  agencies,  judicial  bodies  and  other  relevant  entities  was  further  upgraded.  The  paper  also  points  out  the  activities  of  the  RS  Ministry  of  the  Interior  in the fight against forms of domestic violence, peer violence and violence at sports events. In the concluding remarks, proposals were made for improving the legislative framework de lege ferenda, strengthening multi-agency and multi-sectoral cooperation, and accepting the good practice of the developed countries in the context of our application for the EU accession.

AB  - Крајем двадесетог века човечанство je ушло у еру информационих технологија. ИТ индустрија, која се бави производњом, обрадом,
складиштењем и преносом информација, постала је саставни дeо глобалног
економског система, потпуно независан и прилично значајан сектор привреде. Зависност савременог друштва од информационих технологија је толико
велика да пропусти у информационим системима могу довести до значајних инцидената. Телекомуникацијe су кључна индустрија информационих
технологија. Међутим, информације су током транспорта веома осетљиве
на разне врсте злоупотреба. Јединице за складиштење и обраду података
могу бити физички заштићене од недобронамерних, што се не може рећи за
комуникационе линије које се протежу на стотине или хиљаде километара и
које је готово немогуће заштитити. Стога је проблем заштите информација
у сфери телекомуникација веома значајан. Криптологија као наука и посебно њен део криптографија управо се баве овом проблематиком. Квантна
криптографија је релативно новија област која се бави обезбеђењем сигурне
комуникације између пошиљаоца и примаоца информације, користећи законе квантне физике. Циљ рада је да се упознамо са принципима квантне
дистрибуције кључа за кодирање информација и основним проблемима који
се јављају при његовој реализацији.

AB  - Composite systems of monolayer and multilayer nickel films electrochemically deposited on single crystal (100)-oriented silicon wafers were fabricated with and without the ultrasonic agitation. The hardness and adhe-sion behaviour of these composite structures were characterized by Vickers microindentation test. The dependence of composite microhardness and film adhesion on the structure of the film and mixing conditions of electrolyte were analysed. Mathematical models of Chicot-Lesage and Chen-Gao were applied to experimental data in order to obtain the film hardness and adhesion parameter respectively. It is confirmed that the mechanical properties of composite systems of nickel thin films on silicon substrate can be enhanced by formation of multilayer film structure by ultrasound-assisted electrodeposition and by reducing the layer thickness in the multilayer film.
AB  - Formirani su kompozitni sistemi od jednoslojnih i višeslojnih filmova nikla elektrohemijski deponovanih sa i bez ultrazvučnog mešanja na pločicama od monokristalnog silicijuma orijentacije (100). Tvrdoća i adhezija tih kompozitnih struktura su okarakterisane testom mikrotvrdoće po Vikersu. Analizirana je zavisnost mikrotvrdoće kompozita i adhezije filma od strukture filma i uslova mešanja elektrolita. Matematički modeli Šiko-Lezaža i Čen-Gaoa su primenjeni na eksperimentalne podatke kako bi se dobile vrednosti tvrdoće filma i parametra adhezije. Potvrđeno je da se mehanička svojstva kompozit-nih sistema sastavljenih od tankih filmova nikla na silicijumskoj podlozi mogu poboljšati formiranjem višeslojne strukture filmova, primenom ultrazvučnog mešanja pri elektrodepoziciji i smanjenjem debljine sloja u višeslojnom filmu.

On quantum cryptography

AB  - In the late twentieth century, human race entered the era of
information technology (IT). The IT industry, which deals with the production,
processing, storage and transmission of information, has become an integral
part of the global economic system, a completely independent and significant
sector of the economy. The dependence of the modern society on information
technologies is so great that omissions in information systems may lead to
significant incidents. Telecommunications are the key information technology
industry. However, information is very susceptible to various types of abuse
during transmission. The units for data storage and processing can be
physically protected from anyone wishing harm, but this does not hold true
for the communication lines that span hundreds or thousands of kilometers
and are virtually impossible to protect. Therefore, the problem of information
protection in the field of telecommunications is highly significant. Cryptology,
particularly cryptography, deals with this issue. Quantum cryptography is a
relatively new field ensuring safe communication between the sender and the
recipient using the laws of quantum physics. This paper seeks to address the
principles of the quantum distribution of a key for information encryption and
the fundamental problems arising from the execution.

Procena rizika kod transporta opasnih materija

AB  - Hemijske katastrofe su obično povezane sa sistemima snabdevanja, transporta ili
skladištenja opasnih materija i mogu izazvati jako zagađenje atmosfere. Upravljanje rizikom od potencijalnih katastrofa pri transportu opasnih materija predstavlja proces analize koji bi sprečio ugrožavanje velikog broja ljudi, imovine, životne sredine i prirodnih resursa. U vezi s tim neophodno je pravovremeno predvideti način širenja zagađujućih materija, njihove koncentracije, brzinu i smer širenja s cilјem preciznog vremenskog upozorenja ili eventualne evakuacije stanovništva. Ovaj rad analizira i upoređuje teoriju i praktičnu primenu izabranog Gausovog modela disperzije i softverskog modela ALOHA za slučaj oslobađanja opasnih materija usled incidenta pri transportu. Rezultati dobijeni primenom modela su važni za zaklјučke procene, prepoznavanja, analize i upravlјanje rizikom.
AB  - Chemical disasters are usually associated with the supply, transport or storage of
hazardous substances and can cause severe atmospheric pollution. Managing the risk of potential disasters in the transport of dangerous goods is an analysis process that would prevent the threat of a large number of people, property, the environment and natural resources. In this regard, it is necessary to predict in a timely manner the way in which pollutants are disseminated, their concentration, speed and direction of spreading with the aim of precise weather warnings or possible evacuation of the population. This paper analyzes and compares the theory and application of the selected Gaussian model of dispersion and the software model ALOHA in the case of releasing hazardous materials due to transport incidents. The results obtained by applying the model are important for the conclusions of assessment, recognition, analysis and risk management.

U vezi s tim neophodno je pravovremeno predvideti način širenja zagađujućih materija, njihove koncentracije, brzinu i smer širenja s cilјem preciznog vremenskog upozorenja ili eventualne evakuacije stanovništva. Ovaj rad analizira i upoređuje teoriju i praktičnu primenu izabranog Gausovog modela disperzije i softverskog modela ALOHA za slučaj oslobađanja opasnih materija usled incidenta pri transportu. Rezultati dobijeni primenom modela su važni za zaklјučke procene, prepoznavanja, analize i upravlјanje rizikom., Chemical disasters are usually associated with the supply, transport or storage of
hazardous substances and can cause severe atmospheric pollution. Managing the risk of potential disasters in the transport of dangerous goods is an analysis process that would prevent the threat of a large number of people, property, the environment and natural resources. In this regard, it is necessary to predict in a timely manner the way in which pollutants are disseminated, their concentration, speed and direction of spreading with the aim of precise weather warnings or possible evacuation of the population. This paper analyzes and compares the theory and application of the selected Gaussian model of dispersion and the software model ALOHA in the case of releasing hazardous materials due to transport incidents. The results obtained by applying the model are important for the conclusions of assessment, recognition, analysis and risk management.",

AB  - The enhancement and proliferation of information and communication technology (ICT) has tackled every aspect of human activity: work, leisure, sport, communication, medicine, etc. All around us we can see mobile phones and other connected devices that are now ubiquitous, changing trends in consumer behaviour. Therefore, there is no surprise in fact that such technologies can play a significant role in committing or assisting a crime, since data held on digital devices can give a detailed insight into people’s lives, communications, contacts, friends, family and acquaintances. In order to help law enforcement investigation of such crimes, digital forensic is performed with the aim of collecting crime-related evidence from various digital media and analyse it. Investigators use various forensic techniques to search hidden folders, retrieve deleted data, decrypt the data or restore damaged files, etc. Obtaining evidence such as location data, photos, messages or internet searches can be beneficial, if not crucial, in assisting the police with criminal investigations. Since advances in technologies have led to an increase in the volume, variety, velocity, and veracity of data available for digital forensic analysis, without efficient techniques and tools such investigation would require a tremendous amount of effort and time. That is the reason for expansion in the market of digital forensic tools, both proprietary and free for use, that are available today. In this paper an insight of digital forensic process is given, emphasizing the role of digital forensic tools in providing digital evidence. The possibility of one particular tool, Belkasoft Evidence Center – BEC, in acquisition and analysis of digital evidence was briefly described.

AB  - The paper assesses the concentration of gas aerosols produced as a result of radioactive sources emission. A Gaussian diffusion model is used for calculation of the particle concentration, and the Cs137 isotope is taken as an example of the particles. The determination of the dispersion parameters used in the Gaussian model will be carried out using the Pasquill-Gifford and Briggs’ method. Based on calculated concentrations of radionuclides, their impact on human health will be analyzed.

AB  - Multilayer composite structures of electrodeposited Ni films on polycrystalline copper substrates were fabricated with the assistance of ultrasonic agitation. Alternate ordinary and ultrasonicassisted electrodeposition of Ni layers allowed the formation of laminated films. The adhesion and hardness properties were characterized using bidirectional bending test and Vickers microhardness test with different loads. Dependence of composite microhardness and film adhesion on layer thickness was investigated. It was confirmed that densified parallel interfaces give rise to high hardness and strength of composites. Model of Korsunsky was chosen and applied to experimental data for obtaining the film hardness and model of Chen-Gao was applied for the adhesion evaluation. Compared with the conventional electrodeposited Ni films, the mechanical properties of the ultrasonic-assisted multilayer Ni films are improved. The microhardness and adhesion of the films are enhanced by introduction of ultrasound and by reducing the layer thickness in the film.
AB  - Višeslojne kompozitne strukture su sačinjene od elektrodeponovanih filmova Ni na supstratima od polikristalnog bakra uz pomoć ultrazvučnog mešanja. Naizmenična elektrodepozicija slojeva Ni bez i uz pomoć ultrazvučnog mešanja omogućila je formiranje laminatnih filmova. Adhezija i tvrdoća su okarakterisane ispitivanjem na savijanje u dva pravca i Vikersovim testom mikrotvrdoće sa različitim opterećenjima. Zavisnost kompozitne mikrotvrdoće i adhezije filma od debljine sloja je ispitana. Potvrđeno je da veliki broj međuslojnih granica doprinosi povećanju tvrdoće i jačine kompozita. Za obradu eksperimentalnih podataka su odabrani i primenjeni model Korsunskog za izračunavanje tvrdoće filma i model Čen-Gao za procenu adhezije filma. U poređenju sa filmovima Ni elektrodeponovanim na konvencionalan način, mehanička svojstva filmova elektrodeponovanih u prisustvu uzltrazvuka su poboljšana. Vrednosti mikrotvrdoće i adhezije su povećane uvođenjem ultrazvuka i smanjenjem debljine pojedinačnog sloja Ni u filmu.

Phonon-Induced Thermodynamic Properties of Ultra-narrow Wires

AB  - In this paper, we investigated the influence of size effect on thermodynamic properties of ultra-narrow wires with a simple cubic lattice, by means of two-time dependent Green functions method, adjusted to confined crystalline structures. Poles of Green functions, which defining phonon spectra, are found by solving the secular equation. For different boundary parameters, this problem is presented graphically. The temperature behavior of ultra-narrow wire thermal capacitance is compared to that of bulk structures. It turned out that in low-temperature region thermal capacitance of the ultra-narrow wire is notably lower than in the corresponding bulk sample. How this fact reflects the thermal, conducting and superconducting properties of materials, is discussed in the conclusion.

Spectra of possible phonon states are analyzed using the method of two-time dependent Green's functions and for the diverse combination of boundary surface parameters, this problem was presented numerically and graphically. It turns out that for certain values and combinations of parameters, displacement of dispersion branches outside of bulk zone occurs, leading to the creation of localized phonon states. This fact is of great importance for the heat removal, electrical conductivity and superconducting properties of ultrathin films.

Attitudes regarding the national forensic DNA database: Survey data from the general public, prison inmates and prosecutors' offices in the Republic of Serbia

AB  - Worldwide, the establishment of national forensic DNA databases has transformed personal identification in the criminal justice system over the past two decades. It has also stimulated much debate centering on ethical issues, human rights, individual privacy, lack of safeguards and other standards. Therefore, a balance between effectiveness and intrusiveness of a national DNA repository is an imperative and needs to be achieved through a suitable legal framework. On its path to the European Union (EU), the Republic of Serbia is required to harmonize its national policies and legislation with the EU. Specifically, Chapter 24 of the EU acquis communautaire (Justice, Freedom and Security) stipulates the compulsory creation of a forensic DNA registry and adoption of corresponding legislation. This process is expected to occur in 2016. Thus, in light of launching the national DNA database, the goal of this work is to instigate a consultation with the Serbian public regarding their views on various aspects of the forensic DNA databank. Importantly, this study specifically assessed the opinions of distinct categories of citizens, including the general public, the prosecutors' offices staff, prisoners, prison guards, and students majoring in criminalistics. Our findings set a baseline for Serbian attitudes towards DNA databank custody, DNA sample and profile inclusion and retention criteria, ethical issues and concerns. Furthermore, results clearly demonstrate a permissive outlook of the respondents who are professional "beneficiaries" of genetic profiling and a restrictive position taken by the respondents whose genetic material has been acquired by the government. We believe that this opinion poll will be essential in discussions regarding a national DNA database, as well as in motivating further research on the reasons behind the observed views and subsequent development of educational strategies. All of these are, in turn, expected to aid the creation of suitable legislation and to increase societal confidence that the repository will be used in the legal system without interference with individual rights and freedoms.

AB  - This study analyses the condition and quality of the environment which is endangered by typical pollutants present in urban areas. The main sources of air pollution are power sector (mostly power plants), transport sector (motor vehicles) and industrial plants. Among these substances the most common and most harmful to human health and biological systems is sulphur dioxide. The effects of sulphur dioxide are sensed very easily, most people experience the symptoms after 10 divided by 15 minutes. Therefore the concentration of sulphur dioxide in the air is taken as a referent parameter for the assessment of air quality and evaluation of air pollution. In this study the metallurgy plant which processes 1000 tons of copper-chalcopyrite ore daily is analysed as the illustrative example. By using Gaussian mathematical model the distribution of ground concentration of sulphur dioxide is analysed for the different heights of chimneys and different emissions in stable and unstable atmospheric conditions. Calculation of distribution and spreading of sulphur dioxide covers the period of 24 hours after the release into the atmosphere. The results are compared with the legally permissible limit value concentrations.

Process of phonon diffusion through crystalline structures

AB  - Instead of usual approach, applying displacement-displacement Green’s functions, the momentum-momentum Green’s functions will be used to calculate the diffusion tensor. These functions enter into Kubo’s formula defining diffusion properties of the system. Calculation of the diffusion tensor requires solving of the system of difference equations. It is shown that the elements of the diffusion tensor express discrete behaviour of the dispersion law of elementary excitations and, more important - that they are temperature independent.
AB  - Umesto uobičajenog pristupa, primenom Grinovih funkcija tipa pomeraj-pomeraj, tenzor difuzije izračunat je primenom Grinovih funkcija tipa impuls-impuls. Ove funkcije figurišu u Kubo formuli koja definiše difuzione osobine sistema. Izračunavanje tenzora difuzije zahteva rešavanje sistema diferencnih jednačina. U radu je pokazano da elementi tenzora difuzije ukazuju na diskretnost zakona disperzije elementarnih pobuđenja, i - što je još značajnije - ne zavise od temperature. Rezultati sprovedenih izračunavanja pokazali su da je tenzor difuzije fononskog podsistema u kristalnim strukturama dijagonalan i da svojstvene vrednosti imaju više vrednosti pri nižim frekvencijama. Navedeni zaključci su od velikog značaja, jer potvrđuju makroskopske teorije toplotnog provođenja koje tvrde da je koeficijent difuzije temperaturski invarijatan. Ova činjenica, kao i posledice koji iz nje mogu proizaći, imaju ogroman potencijalni značaj za primenu fononskog inženjeringa, prvenstveno kod savremenih nanostruktura.

U radu je pokazano da elementi tenzora difuzije ukazuju na diskretnost zakona disperzije elementarnih pobuđenja, i - što je još značajnije - ne zavise od temperature. AB  - We investigated the heat conduction through different composite walls and analysed heat balance - thermal efficiency on both sides of the walls. Advantages are commented and the necessity of thermal isolation is emphasized. Examples of several combinations for two ways of passive isolation are analysed. Numerous materials for thermal isolation are presented and value of the overall coefficient of transmission is calculated for different combinations. It is concluded that for construction of walls it is better to use shallow brick rather than full and that it is more efficient to place thermal isolation on the exterior side of wall because only in that case continual isolating layer can be realized.
AB  - U radu je razmatrano provođenje toplote kroz različite kompozitne zidove i toplotni bilans - termalna efikasnost sa obe strane zidova. Navedene su prednosti i neophodnost postavljanja termoizolacije i dati su i analizirani primeri više kombinacija za dva načina pasivne izolacije. Predstavljeni su brojni termoizolacioni materijali i izračunata je vrednost ukupnog koeficijenta prolaza za razne kombinacije. Konstatovano je da je kod konstrukcije zidova bolje koristiti šuplju opeku od pune i da je efikasnije postaviti termoizolaciju na spoljašnjoj strani zida, jer samo tada može ostvariti neprekinut izolacioni omotač.

Different regions of exciton localized states in ultrathin dielectric films

AB  - This paper presents the results of research conducted in the field of confinement effects in ultrathin dielectric films. Method of choice is the method of Green's functions which proved to be a very powerful tool for theoretical research in solid state physics. Among many other properties of materials, such as optical, conductive, etc. with this method it is possible to obtain critical values of boundary parameters corresponding to all transitions from bulk to localized exciton states. This research is valid for four layered crystalline film, since that type of ultrathin structure was the object of research. Conditions for occurrence of one, two, three, or even four localized states have been found and analyzed and regions with equal number of localized states have been defined. This corresponds to the process of reconstruction of the energy spectra of excitons in quasi 2D nanostructures with respect to those in corresponding bulk-structures.

Status of experts in criminal proceedings in the Republic of Serbia

AB  - The growing use of forensic science in criminalistics resulted, in practice, in the need that the parties in criminal procedure, particularly the defendant and the injured party (acting as a prosecutor), increasingly hire experts as consultants. With the introduction of the concept of prosecutorial and police investigations in criminal procedure in the Republic of Serbia, it is evident that assistance based on the knowledge from different fields and disciplines of science, technology, arts or crafts is essential to the public prosecutor. There is also no doubt that the subsidiary prosecutor, defense counsel and the defendant increasingly needed such assistance. The amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code introduced the concept of an expert advisor. Modeled after similar solutions in comparative law, the expert advisor has wider options when it comes to helping the parties in the proceedings. Participation of expert advisors can realistically contribute to the quality of professional expertise in court proceedings, in order not to miss important details relevant to the proceedings as a whole. In this paper, the authors deal with the status of experts in criminal proceedings in the Republic of Serbia. The form and content of their expert assistance deserves further analytical analysis and critical examination.
AB  - Sve izraženija primena forenzičkih disciplina u kriminalistici rezultirala je potrebom da krivično-procesne stranke, a naročito okrivljeni i oštećeni kao tužilac, u praksi sve češće angažuju stručna lica kao konsultante. Sa uvođenjem tužilačko-policijskog koncepta istrage u krivičnu proceduru u Republici Srbiji Srbiji, evidentno je da se pomoć bazirana na poznavanju različitih struka i disciplina nauke, tehnike, umetnosti ili zanata ne može poreći ni javnom tužiocu. Nesporno je, takođe, da je takva pomoć sve potrebnija i oštećenom kao tužiocu, braniocu i okrivljenom. Izmenama Zakonika o krivičnom postupku (2014) uvodi se stručni savetnik koji po ugledu na slična rešenja u uporednom pravu ima šire mogućnosti kada je u pitanju pomoć stranci. Učešće stručnog savetnika realno može doprineti da veštačenje bude temeljnije obavljeno, tj. da ne promaknu važni detalji od značaja za postupak u celini. U ovom radu autori se bave statusom stručnih lica u krivičnom postupku čija forma i sadržina pružanja stručne pomoći zaslužuju dodatno analitičko sagledavanje i kritičko preispitivanje.

AB  - Coal and lignite play a major energy supply role in many European countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina. Yet mining activities are a heavy source of ecosystem contamination, posing significant environmental threats. The primary goal of this study was to isolate and identify autochthonous lignite mine spoil bacteria and evaluate their potential in bioremediation of these polluted soils. Two Bacillus species, Bacillus simplex and a Bacillus cereus group member, were identified using conventional, molecular, and bioinformatics approaches. This represents, to our knowledge, the first microbial characterization of mine overburden in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A co-inoculum of autochthonous bacterial populations was used to treat unvegetated as well as oat- and lettuce-vegetated lignite overburden samples. Our results illustrate the potential of recovered native species to enrich soil fertility and productivity through plant growth promotion.

Phenotypic heterogeneity of Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates in the protected nature park 'Palic' (Serbia)

AB  - Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a globally distributed environmental bacterium, which is also a significant opportunistic pathogen of humans, animals and plants. It is considered that wide distribution of this bacterium is connected with its most significant constitutive property to form biofilms, and that this multicellular mode of growth, predominant in nature, serves as a protective mechanism against unfavourable environmental conditions. The work presented here examines the phenotypic diversity of Pseudomonas aeruginosa environmental isolates with respect to biofilm production capacity under different environmental conditions (temperature, pH, NaCl), production of virulence factors, and motility. The purpose of this work is to present the production of two quorum sensing-regulated virulence factors (rhamnolipids and pyocyanin), explore different motility tests (swimming, swarming and twitching) and discover potential relationship between assessed phenotypic features. Obtained results delineate environmental conditions coinciding with biofilm production and suggest a high correlation between rhamnolipid production levels and biofilm formation. Rhamnolipids affect motility competence, yet only the flagellum-mediated swimming motility has significant impact on the biofilm formation potential. Although it is challenging to demarcate a definitive, clear correlation between parameters tested, rhamnolipid content appears to serve as a link between the tested phenotypic factors.

The role of biometric applications in air transport security

AB  - As the number of air passengers continues to increase worldwide, so do the security demands and challenges in the air transport industry, particularly in lieu of numerous recent terrorist attacks. One of the essential requirements in fulfilling these needs resides in the accurate and timely identification of passengers and other participants in the air transport flow. Biometrics represents identification of individuals based on their quantifiable biological characteristics in automatic pattern recognition systems and is considered one of the most reliable means for personal identification. It is, therefore, not surprising that biometric technologies have an increasing presence in the air transportation industry. The intent of this review is to familiarize readers with biometric tools aimed at establishing and maintaining high security at airports and during flight, as well as to point out promising emerging biometric applications in the field.
AB  - Sve veći broj putnika u vazdušnom saobraćaju, kao i sve učestaliji teroristički napadi, povećavaju bezbednosne zahteve i rizike u avio-industriji na globalnom nivou. Jedan od osnovnih uslova za povećanje bezbednosti jeste mogućnost precizne i brze identifikacije kako putnika, tako i drugih učesnika u saobraćajnom toku. Biometrija je oblast koja se bavi identifikacijom pojedinaca na osnovu njihovih merljivih, bioloških (anatomskih, fizioloških i ponašajnih) karakteristika u automatskim informacionim sistemima i smatra se jednim od najpouzdanijih pristupa za utvrđivanje identiteta. Stoga ne čudi što su biometrijske tehnologije danas sve prisutnije u avio-industriji. Cilj ovog rada je da upozna čitaoce sa dostupnim biometrijskim alatima koji se koriste za postizanje i održavanje visokog nivoa bezbednosti u vazdušnom saobraćaju. Autorka najpre daje pregled biometrijskih identifikacija koje se vrše na vazdušnim graničnim prelazima - aerodromima. U ovom kontekstu su, pored biometrijskih pristupa koji se koriste kao pooštrene mere bezbednosti, takođe obrađene i tehnologije koje imaju za cilj da povećaju brzinu prelaska granice i udobnost putnika niskog rizika, poput putnika koji često putuju (frequent flyers). Autorka dalje predstavlja načine na koje se, pomoću biometrijskih identifikacija, obavlja kontrola pristupa autorizovanih zaposlenih određenim zonama aerodroma, kao i provera prisustva osoba za kojima se traga. Kako skrining sistemi na aerodromima mogu imati visoke stope lažnih uzbuna, a sam proces skrininga predstavlja izazov, budući da zahteva proveru miliona pojedinaca u potrazi za svega nekoliko njih sa zlim namerama, autorka diskutuje o profilisanju putnika (bihevioralni skrining), kao savremenom pristupu identifikaciji pojedinaca na aerodromima, koji je u povoju, i koji je zasnovan na automatskom, biometrijskom prepoznavanju sumnjivih individua. Konačno, autorka predstavlja biometrijske aplikacije za identifikaciju pojedinaca tokom leta, koje se razvijaju u cilju obezbeđivanja putnika, posade i letelice.
