One Aggregated Approach in Multidisciplinary Based Modeling to Predict Further Students’ Education

AB  - In this paper, one multidisciplinary-applicable aggregated model has been proposed and verified. This model uses traditional techniques, on the one hand, and algorithms of machine learning as modern techniques, on the other hand, throughout the determination process of the relevance of model attributes for solving any problems of multicriteria decision. The main goal of this model is to take advantage of both approaches and lead to better results than when the techniques are used alone. In addition, the proposed model uses feature selection methodology to reduce the number of attributes, thus increasing the accuracy of the model. We have used the traditional method of regression analysis combined with the well-known mathematical method Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This approach has been combined with the application of the ReliefF classificatory modern ranking method of machine learning. Last but not least, the decision tree classifier J48 has been used for aggregation purposes. Information on grades of the first-year graduate students at the Criminalistics and Police University, Belgrade, after they chose and finished one of the three possible study modules, was used for the evaluation of the proposed model. To the best knowledge of the authors, this work is the first work when considering mining closed frequent trees in case of the streaming of time-varying data.

AB  - One of the essential activities for sustainable local economic development is continuous improvement of business environment which can be carried out through the business-friendly certification as objective benchmarking process, which is influenced by many factors - criteria that could be analyzed using multi-criteria decision-making methods. Determining criteria weights is the most important task regarding these methods for which a number of methodologies based on different approaches were developed. These methodologies could be generally divided into two groups: subjective and objective. Shortly, these methodologies quantify given preferences using knowledge of experts if they are subjective or using calculations from available data if they are objective. Methodologies from these two groups give different results in a wide range of values. Therefore, it is useful to create composite indicators using aggregation of both approaches in order to reduce the influence of their bad individual characteristics and, therefore, achieve a balanced symmetrical approach. The purpose of this paper is constructing one efficient model that solves a problem of the planning of sustainable local economic development in the Republic of Serbia. Our approach uses the aggregation of the entropy method, as one objective approach, and the analytical hierarchy process, as a subjective approach, in executing business-friendly certification process. The implementation of the proposed approach has been demonstrated as a part of a business-to-government (B2G) platform called “Multi-Criteria Support System for Analysis of the Local Economic Environment” in the City of Niš.

AB  - Local self-government has the task of enabling stable economic development, in addition to enabling a normal quality of life for citizens. This is why the state government should provide guidelines that will improve the local business climate, and by doing so enable local economic development. This can be done through the introduction of a business-friendly certification procedure, which is influenced by uncertain inputs and influences many output factors. Each local government has the important task of determining its rank of efficiency in this process. A number of methodologies developed to solve this problem are generally divided into two groups: Parametric and non-parametric. These two groups of methodologies could provide quite different results. Therefore, the purpose of this paper was to create a model using both approaches to achieve a balanced symmetrical approach that produces better results than each approach individually. For this purpose, the paper describes a multicriteria decision aid-based model of optimization to evaluate the effectiveness of this process, integrating classification, data envelopment analysis, and stochastic frontier analysis, as well as its application in a case study of business-friendly certification in the Republic of Serbia.

AB  - The main motivation to conduct the study presented in this paper was the fact that due to the development of improved solutions for prediction risk of bleeding and thus a faster and more accurate diagnosis of complications in cirrhotic patients, mortality of cirrhosis patients caused by bleeding of varices fell at the turn in the 21th century. Due to this fact, an additional research in this field is needed. The objective of this paper is to develop one prediction model that determines most important factors for bleeding in liver cirrhosis, which is useful for diagnosis and future treatment of patients. To achieve this goal, authors proposed one ensemble data mining methodology, as the most modern in the field of prediction, for integrating on one new way the two most commonly used techniques in prediction, classification with precede attribute number reduction and multiple logistic regression for calibration. Method was evaluated in the study, which analyzed the occurrence of variceal bleeding for 96 patients from the Clinical Center of Nis, Serbia, using 29 data from clinical to the color Doppler. Obtained results showed that proposed method with such big number and different types of data demonstrates better characteristics than individual technique integrated into it.

Noise-indicator nonnegative integer-valued autoregressive time series of the first order

AB  - This paper presents a modification and, at the same time, a generalization of the linear first order nonnegative integer-valued autoregressive processes, well-known as INAR(1) processes. By using the so-called Noise-Indicator, a nonlinear model with the threshold regime and with more complex structure than the appropriate linear models was obtained. The new model, named NIINAR(1) process, has been investigated in terms of the most general, the power series distribution of its innovations. Basic stochastic properties of the NIINAR(1) model (e.g., correlation structure, over-dispersion conditions and distributional properties) are given. Also, besides of some standard parameters estimators, a novel estimation techniques, together with the asymptotic properties of the obtained estimates is described. At last, a Monte Carlo study of this process is also given, as well as its application in the analysis of dynamics of two empirical dataset.

Determination of invariant measures: An approach based on homotopy perturbations

AB  - In this paper, the expression for the charge density in inversion layer at the surface of semiconductor has been improved. The improvement is related to the replacement of an empirical smoothing factor by new one which has generalized logistic (GL) functional form. The introduction of the GL function of the second type in the original interpolating expression leads to continual and smooth transition of the inversion charge density (ICD) between different regions of metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) operation. Moreover, in this way any empirical determinations are avoided. The simulated values of the ICD match closely with the numerical results of implicit charge sheet model for a wide range of dopant concentration and oxide thickness. In addition, the proposed GL fitting procedure has been also extended in the case where quantum mechanical effects play important role in inversion mode of scaled MOS devices.

AB  - One of the key problems in the application of multicriteria analysis methods is identifying the importance of the model criteria. The relevance and validity of the decisions are directly conditioned by the relevance of a given set of criteria used for evaluating alternatives, and the correct determination of the weights of these criteria. Several methodologies have been developed to calculate the importance of each criterion for a given problem. All methodologies are classified into two main groups: subjective and objective. In this paper, we present a new procedure to integrate two recognized methods for determining the weights of factors-the analytic hierarchy method as a subjective method and entropy as an objective method. We apply our methodology to a contemporary local economic problem in Serbia-the process of certifying cities and municipalities as favorable to business. We also discuss its implementation in a software tool on a local government website.

AB  - This paper presents Android-based SOS platform named SOSerbia for sending emergency messages by citizens in Serbia. The heart of the platform is SOS client Android application which is an easy and simple solution for sending SOS messages with unique combination of volume buttons. The proposed platform solves a lot of safety, security, and emergency problems for people who can be in dangerous situations. After a person presses a correct combination of buttons, a message with his or her location is sent to the operating center of the Serbian Police. The platform merges several appropriately combined advanced Android technologies into one complete solution. The proposed solution also uses the Google location API for getting user's location and Media Player broadcast receiver for reading pressed buttons for volume. This logic can be also customized for any other mobile operating system. In other words, the proposed architecture can be also implemented in iOS or Windows OS. It should be noted that the proposed architecture is optimized for different mobile devices. It is also implemented with simple widget and background process based on location. The proposed platform is experimentally demonstrated as a part of emergency response center at the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia. This platform overcomes real-life problems that other state-of-the-art solutions introduce and can be applied and integrated easily in any national police and e-government systems.

AB  - In this paper macrodiversity reception with macrodiversity selection combining (SC) receiver and two microdiversity SC receivers operating over Gamma shadowed Weibull multipath fading channel in the presence of co-channel interference subjected to Weibull short term fading is analysed. Closed form expression for cumulative distribution function (CDF) of signals at outputs of microdiversity receivers is calculated. These results are used for CDF evaluation of macrodiversity SC receiver output signal envelope. Series of derived expressions for outage probability rapidly convergence from 5 to 10 terms should be summed to achieve accuracy at 5th significant digit for any Gamma long term fading parameters and Weibull short term fading parameters. In this paper, influence of Gamma long term fading severity parameter, Gamma long term fading correlation coefficient and Weibull short term fading nonlinearity parameter on outage probability are analysed and discussed.

AB  - In this manuscript, a novel approach for an approximate solving of coupled Schrodinger-Poisson (SP) equations in the accumulation layer of semiconductor is described. This approach, based on the homotopy perturbation method (HPM), gives an approximate analytic solution of SP system which at the same time has a relative simple mathematical form, as well as a high degree of accuracy. A good agreement between HPM solution and exact solution of SP system indicates on the utility and sufficiency of the HP method.

The Design of the Personal Enemy - MIMLeBot as an Intelligent Agent in a Game-based Learning Environment

AB  - A bot is one of the main elements of all computer video games, frequently used for the creation of various opponent characters within a game. Opponent modeling is the problem of predicting the agent actions in a gaming environment. This paper proposes and describes the implementation of a bot as a personal opponent in a small educational game. In order to increase the efficiency when using such a small educational application/module, artificial intelligence was added in the form of a bot competing with the students. Pedagogical elements of the intelligent learning system are introduced through the pedagogical model and the student model. This paper demonstrates the use of the student model to present the player model built by the experience of a human teacher, with true/false questions incorporated with the bot strategy into the opponent model. The authors use the Monte Carlo approach in this implementation, known as artificial intelligence technique and a best-first search method used in most video games, but to the best of their knowledge, it has not been used for prediction in educational games based on bot strategy. The results highlight that the Monte Carlo approach presented via the BFTree classifier provides the best classification accuracy compared with other predictive models based on data mining classifiers. It was shown that the training data from the human player can help in creating a bot strategy for a personalized game-based learning system. The Help option can be used for the assessment of the students' current knowledge by counting the number of Help option accesses, the player relies on Help as a 'source of knowledge' needed to complete the game task successfully. The obtained results show that the bot (personal opponent) stimulated players to replay the game multiple times, which may contribute to the increase of the students' knowledge.

AB  - Today, e-Governments services operate quick answer systems in many different domains in order to help citizens receive answers to their questions at any time and within a very short time. The automatic mapping of relevant documents stands out as an important application for automatic questions-documents classification strategies. This paper presents a contribution to the identification concepts in text comprehension in unstructured documents as an important step towards clarifying the role of explicit concepts in information retrieval in general. The most common representational scheme in text categorization is the Bag of Words approach when the dictionary, as incorporating background knowledge, is large. The authors introduce a new approach to create conceptbased text representations, and apply it to a text categorization collection to create predefined classes in the case of short text document analysis problem. Further in this paper, a classification-based algorithm for questions matching topic modelling is presented. The paper also describes the weighting of concepts that present terms with high frequency of occurrence in questions is based on their similarity relevance in the predefined classes of documents. The results of the experiment within the criminal law domain in the present case study show that the performance of concept-based text representations has proven to be satisfactory in the case when there is no dictionary for this domain.

The automatic mapping of relevant documents stands out as an important application for automatic questions-documents classification strategies. AB  - This book is a practical handbook of research on dealing with mathematical methods in crime prevention for special agents, and discusses their capabilities and benefits that stem from integrating statistical analysis and predictive modeling. It consists of a current collection of research with contributions by authors from different nations in different disciplines. After reading this book, the reader should be able to understand the fundamental nature of cyberspace; understand the role of cyber-attacks; learn analytical techniques and the challenges of predicting events; learn how languages and culture are influenced by cyberspace; and learn techniques of the cyberspace public opinion detection and tracking process. Understanding cyberspace is the key to defending against digital attacks. This book takes a global perspective, examining the skills needed to collect and analyze event information and perform threat or target analysis duties in an effort to identify sources for signs of compromise, unauthorized activity and poor security practices. AB  - Many researchers have taken a great deal of effort to promote high quality game-based learning applications, such as educational games, animations, simulations, animated or interactive simulation mechanisms in learning management system (LMS), and so on. The Bloom's taxonomy strategy was successfully implemented as effective gaming model in two different game-based learning applications (puzzle and platformer games) that motivate and actively engage college students in order to make learning process more enjoyable. During using the game-based modules in LMS Moodle, special attention was paid both to the integration of game-play aspects and the relationship between learning styles and game genres. In this paper we shall describe the proposed approach and introduce an adaptation and personalization of player as student model based on game genres. We have analyzed learning styles and teaching strategies that match the game features which resulted in embedding the analysis personalization and teaching strategies into the game. This article presents the effectiveness of agent-based approach in teaching strategies of Moodle gaming education resources.

The specificity of tools for responding to an emergency call's in the police

AB  - Service of permanent duty is one of the most important services on which work is performed and the to the police response to an emergency call that service is one of the most important tasks. This paper attempts to provide insight into the organization, activities and work of security services that deal with response to an emergency call, in order to point the necessity of implementing modern services which increase the level of prediction of the situation on the ground in real time and allow adequate time engagement and a more determined - faster reaction. The specificity of tools that should provide the information to the police command staff, which is responsible for the operation in case of an emergency call to the police, is reflected in the degree of accuracy, speed of incoming and the speed of data processing into information useful for constructing images of emergency declared by calling incidental or crisis situation. The aim is to determine the necessary methods and principles required in the implementation of tools for responding to an emergency call. It seems, on the one hand, the analysis of the results of previously implemented tools, both from the aspect of design and implementation, and exploitation as the most important assessment of the real effectiveness of each tool, and, on the other hand, to find the appropriate methodology solutions. Also, the paper presents function of one of the possible scenarios for implementing IKS, which especially divers attention to the security aspects which the necessity of implementation of the IKS is primarily related to the protection of sensitive information and prevent their abuse.
AB  - Servis stalnog dežurstva je jedna od najvažnijih usluga na kojima se zasniva rad policije, a odgovor na hitan poziv u tom servisu je jedan od najvažnijih poslova. Ovaj rad pokušava da pruži uvid u organizaciju, poslove i rad bezbednosnih službi koje ce bave odgovorom na hitan poziv, kako bi ukazao na neophodnost implementiranja savremenih servisa koji bi podigli nivo predviđanja situacije na terenu u realnom vremenu i tako omogućili adekvatnije angažovanje i odlučniju - bržu reakciju. Specifičnost alata koji treba da obezbedi informacije komandnom kadru policije, odgovornom za delovanje u slučaju hitnog poziva policiji, ogleda se u stepenu tačnosti, brzini prispeća i brzini obrade podataka u informaciju korisnu za građenje slike o hitnim pozivom prijavljenoj incidentnoj ili kriznoj situaciji. Cilj rada je utvrđivanje neophodnih metoda i principa pri realizaciji alata za odgovor na hitan poziv. To se čini, s jedne strane, analizom rezultata prethodno realizovanih alata, kako sa aspekta projektovanja i implementiranja, tako i eksploatisanja kao najbitnije ocene realne učinkovitosti svakog alata, i, s druge strane, pronalaženjem odgovarajuće metodologije rešenja. U radu je prikazana funkcija jednog od mogućih scenarija implementiranja informaciono-komunikacionih sistema, koja posebno skreće pažnju na bezbednosne aspekte.

AB  - Security of computer systems is becoming more important, because more users in more ways use more information in the computer world. With the development of information technologies and telecommunication systems and a greater diffusion in the geographical sense growing is also the possibility of misuse of data which are transferred through open and insecure communication paths which requires a more efficient protection. In the system of data transfer attackers can easily destroy data, modify them or the information can come into possession of unauthorized persons or organizations which can often have very heavy consequences. The problem is especially expressed in some organizations such as state administrations, banking, judicial, military, medical and other administrations. In this paper explained are basic terms related to crypts and algorithms which were used and which are used, as well as methods of data protection in computer networks based on cryptography in order to protect privacy inside a network of computers. Explained are symmetrical and asymmetrical cryptosystems and the technique of digital signature. Also, the subject of this paper is the presentation of the program CrypTool and CryptoWork flow, which belong to the most famous free ie. shareware software in the field of cryptography, with special emphasis on the possibility of applying different algorithms and comparative analysis of their work and are given concrete examples of their use.
AB  - Sigurnost računarskih sistema oduvek je bitna, a danas postaje još važnija, jer sve više korisnika na sve više načina koristi sve više informacija u sadašnjem informatičkom svetu. Sa razvojem informacionih tehnologija i telekomunikacionih sistema i sve većom rasprostranjenošću ljudskog društva u geografskom smislu raste i mogućnost zloupotreba podataka koji se prenose otvorenim komunikacijskim putevima, što zahteva efikasniju zaštitu. U sistemu prenosa podataka napadači mogu lako da unište podatke, da ih modifikuju ili da informacije dođu u posed neovlašćenim osobama ili organizacijama, što može imati vrlo teške posledice. Problem je posebno izražen kod nekih organizacija kao što su državne administracije, pravosudne, vojne, medicinske, bankarske ali i druge. U ovom radu su objašnjeni osnovni pojmovi vezani za kriptovanje i algoritmi koji su se koristili i koji se koriste, kao i metode zaštite podataka u računarskim mrežama bazirane na kriptografiji kako bi se zaštitila takozvano sveto trojstvo sigurnosti CIA (od početnih slova engleskih reči: poverljivost - confidentiality, integritet - integrity, dostupnost - availability) unutar mreže računara. U radu su objašnjeni simetrični i asimetrični kriptosistemi i tehnika digitalnog potpisa. Takođe, predmet rada je predstavljanje programa CrypTool i CryptoWork flow, koji spadaju u najpoznatije slobodne, tj. shareware softvere u oblasti kriptografije, sa posebnim naglaskom na mogućnosti primene različitih algoritama, kao i komparativna analiza njihovog rada, a dati su i konkretni primeri njihovog korišćenja.

A Framework for Delivering e-Government Support

AB  - This paper gives a solution for improving e-Government services based on a hybrid approach: multilayered clustering of e-government documents based on fuzzy concepts and application of different text similarity measures. The goal is to reduce time between citizen's questions and government feedback, either completely eliminating or at least minimizing the deployment of subject matter experts. After the problem description, the paper describes step by step the functionality of the proposed system. At the end, concluding remarks emphasize some important features of the given approach and potential for future research.

Some possibilities of predicting the selection of the line of study

AB  - In accordance with the omnipresent process of computerization of society, along with a permanent global economic crisis, there is a need for saving by avoiding wrong choices for study. It is the interest of both the students and high education institutions that high education be as successful as possible, hence the need for adequate selection of the line of study is almost inevitable. The aim of the paper is to show how modern mathematical - informational media can construct a model of prediction in the selection of the line of study. In order to achieve our aim we conducted a research in the Criminal Police Academy in Belgrade. By using classic regression analysis, they developed a model which instructs students how to choose one of three lines of study after the first year, based on individual achievements in subjects in the first year and overall average period of study. The results are presented in the paper.
AB  - U skladu s opšteprisutnim procesom informatizacije društva, uz permanentnu svetsku ekonomsku krizu, nameće se potreba uštede izbegavanjem izbora pogrešnog usmerenja studiranja. Interes je kako studenata, tako i visokoškolskih institucija da visokoškolsko obrazovanje bude što uspešnije, pa se stoga gotovo nužno javlja potreba za adekvatnim izborom smera studija. Cilj rada je da ukaže na mogućnost korišćenja savremenih mate- matičko-informatičkih sredstava kojima se realizuje jedan model predikcije u izboru smera studiranja. Radi realizacije ovog cilja sprovedeno je istraživanje na Kriminalističko-policijskoj akademiji u Beogradu na kojoj je primenom klasične regresione analize razvijen model koji daje studentima uputstva za izbor jednog od tri postojeća smera studiranja nakon prve godine studiranja, a na osnovu pojedinačnog uspeha postignutog iz predmeta na prvoj godini studija i ukupnog proseka studiranja. Rezultati tog istraživanja prezentovani su u ovom radu.

Improving minutiae extraction in fingerprint images through robust enhancement

AB  - The paper describes in detail the skeletonbased algorithm for the automatic extraction of fingerprint minutiae. These distinguishing characteristics are used both in the manual and automatic (AFIS-Automatic Fingerprint Identification System) fingerprint matching process for identification purpose. Proposed enhancement algorithm, utilizing multiscale orientation field estimation along with Log-Gabor filters in frequency domain, significantly improves fingerprint image quality, resulting in reduced number of falsely minutiae extracted. Results of experiments conducted on collections of fingerprint images show competitive performance of proposed algorithm.

Study program selection by aggregated DEA-AHP measure

AB  - Upon the completion of the common first-year curriculum, under graduate university students may find it difficult to choose the most appropriate study program. This paper deals with a methodology that may help students select it on the basis of their first-year marks, i.e. their efficiency. We have used data on the students' marks from the official database at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Belgrade, to determine the weights of the first-year subjects in order to predict future students' success on each of the study programs, separately. The aggregated measure, as the combination of weights obtained by Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) as an objective, and Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) as a subjective method is defined for determining the subject's weight. Furthermore, based on the weights assigned to subjects according to departments, we have selected subjects relevant for assessment of future students' success and recommended the appropriate study programs.
