Application of mathematical model to the process of steel billets heating

Abstract
In this paper, which is a part of a wide study, some results of the heat transfer problems during heating of low alloy steel billets in a flame walking beam furnace have been presented. Numerical model considers two-dimensional process of heat flow and it has been used to predict temperature distribution within the billet and the changes of furnace atmosphere temperature. In model developing a finite difference method with subdivision of the billet into elements of equal area was applied. The boundary conditions affecting the heating process and temperature distribution were varied during the time of heating. The thermal properties of the steel were defined as the functions of mean billet temperature at the beginning of a small time increment.
U ovom radu, koji je samo dio šire studije, prikazani su rezultati izučavanja procesa prenosa toplote pri zagrijavanju gredica od niskolegiranog čelika u koračnoj peći loženoj tečnim gorivom. Numerički model dvodimenzionalnog procesa toplotnog toka se koristi za određivanje temperaturne raspodjele kroz gredicu i temperaturnih promjena pećne atmosfere. U razvijenom modelu, za čije se rješavanje primjenjuje metoda konačnih razlika, izvršena je podjela presjeka gredice na elemente jednakih površina, a vrijeme zagrijavanja je podijeljeno na određen broj intervala (priraštaja). Granični uslovi koji utiču na proces zagrijavanja i temperaturnu raspodjelu, mijenjaju se u toku procesa. Toplotne karakteristike čelika definisane su kao funkcije srednje temperature gredice na početku vremenskog priraštaja.
